THANKSGIVING WITH THREE GENERATIONS OF THE MOHR FAMILY

One of the extra advantages of having one’s daughter marry is getting to know In-Laws. Since Pat and I have four adult-children, we’ve gotten to know four sets of in-laws and have had the opportunity to spend time with all of them other than just the day of the weddings.
The In-Laws we’ve spent the most time with are John and Nancy Mohr of Unionville, PA—Joss’ folks. We’ve visited them many times in PA and they come to the same small town of South Bristol, Maine each fall—where we’ve hung out, boating, socializing, eating dinners, and discussing politics.
Nancy and John have led fascinating lives and their friendship with Pat and me is treasured. John was in the advertising business in New York City and commuted daily from Philadelphia to the Big Apple and back to their beautiful farm in Unionville. He’s an aviation enthusiastic who also loves cars—and John Deere tractors. His love of farming brought him back from NYC every day while he wrote advertising copy for many top corporations.
Nancy was once the hostess of Unionville with her famous breakfasts the day of the Big Hunt on their farm in Chester County, PA. A proud graduate of Mount Holyoke College, Nancy once led this college’s fund-raising and set a new record. Nancy’s written a number of books including “The Lady Blows a Horn” about her friend, Nancy Hannum ‘Tying together the highs and lows of her life, this is the story of the lady who blows a horn.’ Nancy has shared her commitment to open space and farmland preservation with all who are pleased to be her friend.

This year’s Thanksgiving we were pleased Nancy and John returned to Hilton Head. John had just celebrated his 90th Birthday. He’s in good shape and always fun to be with. Nancy continues being her usual bright and always on the go lady!
Nancy and John Mohr bring joy, knowledge, and good friendship to our lives. Pat, Dora, and I were delighted to celebrate Thanksgiving at the South Carolina Yacht Club with the Senior Mohr’s, Jan and Joss, and our Grandson, Winslow. The photo above records the event.
